General Hospital Spoilers: ABC Executive Provides Huge Hint About GH Future

General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that the land of Port Charles has been buzzing with drama during February Sweeps month. But what if everything were to come to an end? What if the show was pulled from the ABC network?

With this soap being one of the last four daytime dramas on the air, fans always worry about the status of their favorite show.

The good news is that GH viewers don’t necessarily have to be concerned about that. An ABC executive recently offered a clue into what the future holds for the soap opera.

GH Spoilers: ABC Executive Notes That General Hospital Is A “Joy”

During the winter Television Critics Association press tour, Disney Television Group President, Craig Erwich, recently told Soap Hub that GH is a “tremendous source of pride” for ABC.

He adds that being on air for 60 years is a “remarkable achievement”. Erwich notes that because it’s on every day, it provides an opportunity for the network to entertain, surprise, and delight viewers on a “daily basis”.

Erwich states the joy is to have fans who have watched the soap for six decades now tune in with kids and grandchildren.

He reflects that as the storylines are presented Monday through Friday, they have become a part of viewers’ lives, which is the goal for ABC.

GH Spoilers: ABC Is Committed To General Hospital

Erwich went on to say that ABC is committed to the soap. He points to the way the network celebrated the show’s 60th anniversary with a primetime special and adds GH is something ABC is quite proud of.

With Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) moving to streaming service Peacock in 2022, there’s always a concern about a cable network provider cancelling a soap.

Still, it looks like GH is staying put, and ABC is very invested in the soap.
