General Hospital Spoilers: Austin Mystery Finally Solved – See Who’s Behind Doctor’s Grim Fate

General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint that with the big reveal about John Cates’ (Adam Harrington) control of Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), the show may have solved an old mystery as well.

For months, GH fans have been waiting to find out who’s behind Austin Gatlin-Holt’s (Roger Howarth) grim fate.

Someone wearing shiny men’s dress shoes was seen leaving Austin’s house after the deed was done, but nobody ever saw his face.

That obviously wasn’t Jason, especially since he told Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) that he just now came back to Port Charles.

Could it have been John who pulled the trigger on Austin instead?

Following Austin’s demise, Ava Jerome (Maura West) received a photo of deceased Austin and a note that said, “You’re welcome.”

That honestly seems like the kind of message that smug John would’ve sent.

Ava later received yet another pic of bloody Austin and a note that said not to tell anyone.

There was also the gun that someone left for Ava along with a message that said she never knew when she might need it.

Jason isn’t the man you turn to for help playing mind games, so he clearly wasn’t involved in any of that.

John, on the other hand, has been playing mind games with everyone from the first day he set foot back in Port Charles.

It’s reasonable to think that John either ordered someone besides Jason to carry out that hit or just did it himself.

Those shoes definitely fit for an FBI agent, so that’s something to keep in mind.

John may have threatened Ava in the aftermath to eventually force her to join his team against Sonny.

Since Austin was about to turn over evidence on Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) when his fatal takedown happened, that certainly raises questions about John’s potential collusion with Cyrus, too!

Whatever the case, the mystery of who fired at Austin was left dangling, but maybe the puzzle pieces are finally clicking into place.
