General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) is desperate to have a real family connection with Laura Collins (Genie Francis), but she’s still guarded with him due to his horrible history.
Cyrus’ religious platitudes aren’t enough to fully convince Laura that he’s a changed man, but she’s at least open to giving him a chance to prove himself.
We also know Cyrus bonded with Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) a bit when they were at Pentonville together.
Spencer even accepted the turtledoves Cyrus offered as a gift for Trina and gave her one that she still holds close to her heart.
As for Spencer’s own turtledove, it was seen washing up to shore somewhere after his river tumble.
Since those turtledoves are symbolic of Trina and Spencer’s relationship, it might be significant that Cyrus first handed them over. What if Cyrus ultimately gives a rescued Spencer to Trina, too?
After all, Cyrus feels like he owes Trina for the pain of his past actions and previously offered his services. Cyrus insisted that if Trina ever needed anything, all she had to do was ask.
It’s possible there’ll be some situation down the line where Cyrus is the only one who believes Trina’s suspicion that Spencer is alive.
Perhaps Spencer will manage to get a mysterious message to Trina – or maybe she’ll just feel their connection bubble back up somewhere deep in her soul.
Regardless, Trina might get desperate enough to ask Cyrus for assistance depending on what kind of help she needs.
That’s especially true if everyone else starts telling Trina to ignore her instincts and accept that Spencer’s gone for good.
Then again, Cyrus might find evidence that Spencer is potentially still alive and save him from whatever jam he’s landed in on his own.
If there’s another GH villain holding Spencer hostage like Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy), Cyrus might find a way to rescue him and give Trina the shock of her life.
If Cyrus is the one to save Spencer, that would surely be enough to redeem him in Laura’s eyes.
Cyrus hinted about Spencer’s demise hopefully leading to a new beginning – and it indeed could if he proves that demise didn’t stick and brings Spencer home.
Of course, Cyrus can never be completely trusted, so we wouldn’t put it past him to already have Spencer stashed in a coma somewhere – just hoping that he can get him well enough for a comeback.
In that case, Cyrus might be keeping quiet until he knows for certain whether Spencer will pull through.
Cyrus made sure comatose Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) had his own opportunity to recover, so this could be a “like father, like son” scenario.
However, Cyrus would be taking a huge risk by keeping Spencer’s survival a secret. For Cyrus to have a true path to redemption, GH writers may want to skip all the shady behavior for once.
No matter how things play out, it’s easy to imagine Cyrus being the one to pull off a Spencer shocker!
