General Hospital Spoilers: Which ‘Stone’ Is Targeting Sonny – Red Herrings and New Theories Revealed
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was able to score some valuable intel while interrogating Li (Samuel Wang), the guard who betrayed Selina Wu (Lydia Look).
Although Li only worked with a go-between, he recalled eavesdropping on a phone call and finding out that that go-between’s boss went by the name “Stone.”
Of course, that immediately got the wheels turning for Sonny since he recently had a very Stone-y conversation with John “Jagger” Cates (Adam Harrington).
Stone Cates (Michael Sutton) mattered a great deal to Sonny, but he sadly passed away as part of an AIDS-related storyline back in the 1990s.
Some fans fear the show might reveal Stone is somehow alive in a shocking twist, but we’d say there’s no chance of that happening. It would be disrespectful and way too far-fetched – even for GH!
John also talked about his grown son with autism who’s named Stone in memory of his brother, but that Stone surely isn’t connected to this story either.
However, it’s possible that John is using a code name since it would obviously be unwise for him to spread his real name around.
If John is secretly the one plotting to take down mob bosses – including Sonny – then he may be using the name “Stone” when he’s in vigilante justice mode.
It seemed strange when the show brought back “Jagger” looking totally different and going by John instead. It was a weird move when they could’ve just had John be some random new FBI agent.
Now it makes more sense why the writers made him “Jagger” since it allowed them to work this Stone angle and give John a motive to target Sonny, a man he’s loathed for years.
That said, it’s entirely possible John is a red herring since there are other Stone options to consider.
After all, there’s been a lot of Morgan Corinthos (last played by Bryan Craig) talk lately – and his middle name was Stone, too.
It would be a great twist if Morgan secretly survived and was targeting his own father for some reason.
Maybe Morgan could simply be going by his middle name now.
Nevertheless, we can’t leave out “Stone Cold” aka Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), whose return is rapidly approaching.
That was Damian Spinelli’s (Bradford Anderson) nickname for Jason, so it could be a little hint for the audience that “Stone” is actually Jason.
On The Daily Drama Podcast, Steve Burton shut down what he viewed as the most popular return theory not too long ago, but he kept things vague and never explicitly said what that theory was.
Burton might’ve been trying to throw fans off the trail since so many people already thought Jason might be behind the threat against Sonny.
It’s still possible that a programmed Jason is mixed up in all this.
Whatever the case, it’s important to leave no “Stone” unturned when it comes to Sonny and this mysterious plot!
