General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the show delivered a truly shocking Friday cliffhanger that left fans with plenty of questions on November 17. Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) took two bullets upon returning home, but GH writers left viewers in the dark on who pulled the trigger.
Of course, there are a few clues to mull over.
For starters, we can’t ignore the timing since Austin was on the verge of ratting out Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and turning over key evidence that would’ve had him locked back up.
If Cyrus found out about that plan, he may have sent someone to take Austin out of the picture permanently.
After all, Cyrus gave Austin a note that warned him not to be foolish since it could be deadly!
At Austin’s house, the person who would turn out to be the gunman was already waiting for him when he arrived.
Austin seemed more confused than scared when he walked in and questioned what this person was doing there.
Based on Austin’s reaction, it doesn’t seem like Cyrus was doing his own dirty work. If Cyrus was responsible, he presumably sent someone else to do the job.
GH fans know Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) storylines have been very connected in recent months.
Perhaps there’s a reason for that, especially now that the name Jameson Forsythe has come up.
Forsythe is an old WSB enemy of Anna’s – and he seemingly stole all the incriminating evidence on himself from Anna’s new apartment.
Perhaps Forsythe also burned down Anna’s house since a pair of what appeared to be men’s dress shoes were shown in that episode.
It’s worth mentioning that a pair of men’s dress shoes were also seen exiting Austin’s house after leaving him bloody on the floor.
Could Forsythe also be linked to Cyrus – and is he to blame for shooting Austin?
Another shooter option might be Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss), especially since he previously lived with Austin at that location.
Nikolas might be in cahoots with Cyrus, who made sure he had whatever he needed to make a full recovery.
That might’ve been the beginning of an alliance that Laura Collins (Genie Francis) is sure to hate!
This could also set the stage for a very sinister version of Nikolas to return to Port Charles sooner or later, so it’ll be interesting to see how everything plays out.
