General Hospital’s Jon Lindstrom Urges ‘Healing Thoughts’ for John J. York

November 7 was, as John J. York put it, “game time.” The General Hospital vet, who disclosed in September that he needed a blood-stem-cell transplant to treat myelodysplastic syndrome and multiple smoldering myeloma, shared that same month that a match had been found. Today, it would seem, is the day of the transplant.

“I hope you’ll all take just a minute today to send some healing thoughts to my friend John J. York,” tweeted castmate Jon Lindstrom (Kevin). “It’s a big week, and we would all appreciate your help.”

In response, York sent his thanks to his co-star “and to everyone for your positive thoughts and prayers.”

York has been playing Mac on General Hospital since 1991. At the time he announced that he’d have to be taking at least a short leave from the show, he was right on the verge of a major storyline, one in which his character learned that he and late love Dominique had had a son, Cody.

Certainly, our fingers are crossed and double-crossed for the fan favorite. And the General Hospital cast and crew could sure use some good news in this devastating year that has taken from them producer N’Neka Garland, Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie), Billy Miller (ex-Drew) and Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas).

On your way to the comments to wish York well, stop off at the photo gallery below. It’s a walk down Memory Lane and some of the most memorable moments in General Hospital history.
