The actor celebrates a. new GH milestone.In this day and age, it’s not enough for a network to just air their television shows. Not only do they have to make a production out of it — teasers and trailers galore — but they also have to turn social media and streaming services as backup. Luckily, it all pays off, as Maurice Benard noted that General Hospital recently discovered.
Maurice Benard Cheers GH’s Success
The multi-talented performer known to millions of fans as Sonny Corinthos appeared in a video posted to the soap’s official X (formerly Twitter) account in which he unboxed a plaque congratulating General Hospital for gaining 100,000 subscribers to their YouTube Channel.
Benard, who himself reached the goal with his vlog State Of Mind (be sure to check out Soap Hub’s coverage of a recent episode), explained that this was no easy feat and gave all the thanks to viewers. “It’s always you guys…without you guys, I know it’s cliché, and I always say it, but it’s true, without you guys, we wouldn’t have these things. We wouldn’t get plaques. We wouldn’t get ratings. We wouldn’t get anything.” Emphasis on the “anything.”
In his sign-off, Benard again thanked those who watched and expressed how proud he was of the show that he’s called home since August 13, 1993. (See Sonny’s debut via our video replay.)
Like the actor, the General Hospital account also issued their gratitude — and a cheeky challenge. They wrote, “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to like and subscribe. It means the world to everyone who works on #GH. And if you haven’t subscribed to our [YouTube] Channel yet, what are you waiting for?”
