General Hospital Spoilers: Nina’s Marriage Proposal – Someone Else Wants Sonny’s Wife?
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Nina Corinthos (Cynthia Watros) was taken aback over Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) having her served with divorce papers. Nina at least thought Sonny would have a conversation with her before making a move that drastic, but he just went ahead and made the first move to end their marriage.
Of course, Sonny is feeling betrayed by plenty of people in his life right now, so that’s probably adding to his fury over Nina’s secrets.
We’re seeing Sonny close himself off in a protective bubble since trust has been shattered in so many ways.
Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) offered Nina some advice in the February 20 episode, so let’s consider his idea for a moment.
Since Nina wanted a way to get Sonny’s attention and hopefully avoid this split, Valentin suggested she shouldn’t give Sonny the quick divorce that he has in mind.
Dragging this out could give Nina a chance to pull Sonny back in her direction.
Plus, it could give Sonny time to cool off and become more open to patching things up with Nina.
However, there could be a complication on Nina and Sonny’s path to a potential reunion.
There’s no denying that Valentin and Nina have been reconnecting lately, so that’s something to keep an eye on.
Valentin already bought The Invader as part of his plan to help Nina, so he’s proven he’ll go to great lengths for her – even when they’re not actually a couple.
GH fans can’t forget about Valentin’s romantic history with Nina either.
There was a time when Valentin was completely enamored with Nina – and not much has changed based on the adoring looks he still gives her.
Nina loves Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) as if she were her own daughter, so that certainly means a great deal to Valentin, too.
Since Valentin and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) broke up, it’s easy to see how Valentin might grow closer to Nina and start wanting her back.
In fact, that may be happening right before our eyes if that’s what this whole Valentin and Nina scheming storyline is about.
Valentin already made it clear that he thought Nina was too good for Sonny and that she should move on with her life.
That said, Valentin wound up offering that advice about delaying the divorce if Nina wanted to stay married.
Perhaps Valentin could eventually have a change of heart and decide he wants Nina for himself again.
Even if Nina makes progress with Sonny, Valentin might offer a new engagement ring and argue that she should divorce Sonny to marry him instead.
How would Sonny feel if Valentin popped the question to Nina? Would that stir up Sonny’s jealousy and make him want to keep his marriage to Nina intact?
