Yes yes, we know this a trope older than time itself. But hey! why mend something that’s not broken! The memory loss twist has always worked quite well in these back from dead storylines. Moreover, in Spencer and Trina’s story it does have a lot of potential.
A couple years ago we saw a similar twist in Sonny’s life. General Hospital spoilers recall that after falling into steep waters, Sonny washed up in Nixon Falls, with his memory swiped clean. He started a new life there as the simpleton Mike, who fell in love with Nina.
What if GH is planning to borrow a page from that old playbook? Considering that Spencer will remain off-screen for a while, the makers will have to write in a reasonable explanation as to why he was alive and still away from Port Charles and Trina.
Now, of course, they could’ve taken the coma route too. But General Hospital spoilers recall that they just did that with his dad – Nik, and not too long ago. So they do need to pull a different trope from their bag of tricks or things will just get too repetitive, no?
In fact, an amnesia track with Spencer has a lot more potential. With Esme gone, there really is no threat to his relationship with Trina. And what’s a good love story on a soap without a third person trying to break it up!
Thus, it is possible that after falling into the Seine, Spencer washed up to the shore without his memory. And ever since then he has been living a John Doe life far away from PC. He may have even met a beautiful damsel who he could now be dating. Imagine the look on Trina’s face when she sees Spencer in another woman’s arms.
Will Trina and Spencer Have Their Happily Ever After?
Honestly, we doubt Spencer would last too long with another woman. He loves Trina way too much for that, per General Hospital spoilers. So it would be an intriguing watch to see how He and Trina find their way back to each other after his amnesia.
