It’s been a long road for General Hospital’s Kristina Wagner (Felicia), who endured every parent’s nightmare when she unexpectedly lost her son Harrison Wagner in June of 2022. Also the son of her former husband and co-star Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco), the family has worked to keep their son’s memory alive by setting up the Harrison Wagner Scholarship Fund to help other young men get support for their addiction.

Wagner recently posted a photo of her, Harrison and his older brother Peter on Instagram and reflected on grief and how everyone has a right to grieve without letting it define their lives. “You are on earth not to grieve constantly for what you do not have but to rejoice in what you do and to share with others,” she stated then explained that the photo had been taken by her mom Carolyn while the family was on a road trip to Montana in 1997.

“Peter, Harrison and I try our skills to balance on a log,” she described what had been taking place in the photo and recalled how her mom took it without them knowing. “I wonder what her thoughts were at that moment?” Wagner asked herself then talked about the last 20 months since Harrison’s death, to which she deemed as “the slowest period I have ever lived through. Maybe that’s a good thing: I don’t take each day for granted.”

Those who have ever lost a child, spouse or anyone close to them should try to be as brave as Wagner, who now “fills each day with meaning and purpose” the best that she can. How does she manage to do so? “I approach daily events with curiosity and love,” she stated. “I know it takes great effort to get along in this world and find some clarity. My son Harrison travels with me-not just in my memories or in my grief-but as my guide. Because of this, I experience joy in a way I never dreamed possible. You see him in this picture as a tag-along, but in truth he now guides me on my journey.”

Her castmate Finola Hughes (Anna) took to the comments and said what we felt when reading Wagner’s post… “Beautifully written, a beautiful reflection of a moment in time…” And fans were moved as well.

Our hearts continue to go out to the Wagners, who through the darkness of grief have helped many going through their own.
