General Hospital’s ‘CarSon’ 2.0? A Desperate Gamble May Reunite the Corinthoses — and Leave Nina and Drew Out in the Cold

You saw it as well as we did: General Hospital baddie Mr. Brennan — Pikeman, by any other name — took an immediate shine to Carly. So when she learns his true identity, being the throw-caution-to-the-wind type that she is, you just know that she’s going to use his infatuation with her to try to get the goods on the villain and remove her ex Sonny from harm’s way.

Why is this such a big deal? Because it wouldn’t just be another of Carly’s cockamamie schemes. It would put in jeopardy not only her life but also her relationship with Drew. How is he supposed to feel about his girlfriend riding to the rescue of her former husband?

While Drew transforms into the green-eyed monster, Sonny’s marriage to Nina could also be being dealt a death blow when the mobster learns that his bride is the individual who ratted out Carly to the SEC. As the dust begins to settle, what would be left with? Sonny, indebted to Carly and estranged from Nina. Carly, firmly in Sonny’s camp and on the outs with Drew.

The Corinthoses’ reunion all but writes itself. Unless

That is, unless the soap decides to pull a fast one on us and not go the obvious route. Sure, a lotta viewers would be happy to see Carly back in Sonny’s arms. But others would be all, “Been there, done that.” A more interesting option might be to deepen his friendship with old pal Lois. Could a flame be lit between them?

Rena Sofer, who recently returned as our favorite Bensonhurst babe, has already said that she wished in bygone years the show had taken better advantage of Lois and Sonny’s shared history. (Read her comments here.) Perhaps now it will — in a way that majorly impacts both of their futures.
